VORTEX - High-speed Data Recording, Playback & Analysis Systems

In a world of ever increasing bandwidth and complexity, signal processing applications frequently require recording, playback and/or analysis of data in real-time. Curtiss-Wright has built a range of customer programmable, high-speed recording products based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and open standards such as VPX (VITA 46), VPX-REDI (VITA 48), VXS (VITA 41), VME, CompactPCI (cPCI), PCI/PCI-X, PMC/XMC, Fibre Channel, Serial FPDP (sFPDP) and Front Panel Data Port (FPDP/FPDP II).

Vortex Data Recorders are a family of hardware and software products that focus on the task of high-speed streaming, data recording, playback and analysis with performance ranging from below 100MB/s to several GB/s of sustained bandwidth per channel. To store the vast amounts of information that is gathered at these speeds, storage subsystems ranging from a few hundred Gigabytes to tens of Terabytes and beyond are available. Media options include solid state, rugged, semi-rugged and commercial devices.

Applications
  • Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
  • RADAR and Sonar signal capture and playback
  • Electronic Intelligence Recording Systems (SIGINT, COMINT)
  • Semiconductor quality inspection systems
  • Seismic data acquisition and physics research
