Curtiss Wright Controls Defense Solutions’ FibreXtreme Serial FPDP (SFPDP) data link system connects distributed devices through a specialized communications protocol (VITA 17.1-2003) optimized for maximum data throughput. Data transfers without the common CPU overhead and non-deterministic latencies. The Multi-Channel SL100/SL240 Serial FPDP boards support 1, 2 or 4 full speed channels of ANSI/VITA 17.1-2003 Serial FPDP protocol data. Curtiss-Wright Controls’ SL240 Series operates at 2.5 Gbit/sec, sustaining throughputs up to 247 MB/sec on each channel! Operating at a 1.062 Gbit/sec Baud Rate, the SL100 Series offers sustained data throughput of 105 MB/sec on each channel. The Multi-Channel SL100/SL240 boards come in XMC and PCI form factors with a PCIe x8 host bus.
Applications
The FibreXtreme SL100/SL240 boards, ideal for point-to-point or broadcast communications between any sensor and a processor, have several typical serial FPDP applications:
- Video production
- Radar/Sonar
- Medical Imaging
- SIGINT/ELINT
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP)Radar/Sonar
Curtiss-Wright Controls’s FibreXtreme ensures no small data transfer delays prevent demanding throughput applications’ success.
In applications for simultaneous, parallel processing, a single source card transmits data to multiple destination cards through our Physical Layer Switches. Curtiss-Wright Controls’ GLX4000 unit, a 144-port or 288-port physical layer switch, copies any input signal to any number of outputs.
Ruggedized products for rugged environments
High-bandwidth, low-latency data communications are for more than commercial computing applications. FibreXtreme's unique technology can benefit many mission-critical, operational systems, from cleanroom settings to extremely harsh environments, while these conditions subject system components to additional shock, vibration, humidity, and extended temperature ranges.
FibreXtreme Serial FPDP data link products, designed to meet a variety of these operational requirements and specific operational needs, are available in specially modified configurations. Be sure to ask about the availability of boards for your particular application.
