Motion Control:

Motion control solutions from Electronic Systems manages a myriad of platform applications including drive/fly-by-wire, remote control, coordinated motion, and automation. Electronic Systems can develop the control laws for you or take advantage of our servo control libraries to integrate with your model to create your own solution.

Fire Control
Fire Control
Our fire control computers have found generations of success in fast, accurate computation of ballistics solutions for a wide range of artillery weapons and fire support coordination including primary weapons, large caliber 120mm mortar and main cannon systems, turrets, and weapon stations. We achieve high SWaP by consolidating multiple functions such as 1553 and Ethernet for message transfer / digital communications and net-centric computing. Electronic Systems' fire control processors stabilize the gunner's sight head and gun-turret, and are radiation-hardened to meet nuclear survivability requirements. Closed loop, deterministic control laws and application software are also available.
Vehicle Servo Control
Vehicle Servo Control
Electronic Systems teamed with Moog Space and Defense Group to co-develop a cutting-edge family of digital servo motion controllers. It provides single-, dual- and quad-axis motion and position control to drive a wide range of applications for military ground vehicle programs. These motion controllers feature a liquid-cooled chassis to enable high-power motor drive for the vehicle’s various components. Curtiss-Wright Controls developed the embedded software on the servo motor controllers to allow the user to configure loop parameters, upgradability, GUI with Matlab/Simulink interface, fault monitoring, data logging and motor tuning.

Weapons Control
Weapons Control
Electronic Systems' missile interface unit provides the fire control and ballistics computation in shoot-on-the-move and slewable surface launched air defense guided missile systems such as fire and forget, Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS)/Non Line of Sight (NLOS) engagement to counter threats including cruise missiles, low-altitude rotary wings, fixed wings, unmanned aerial vehicles, large caliber rockets, and reconnaissance surveillance and target acquisition platforms.
Refueling Boom Control
Refueling Boom Control
The Actuator Control Unit provides primary, fly-by-electronics remote control and power control of the telescoping aerial refueling boom housed in a forced air cooled ARINC404 chassis. The subsystem is an integrated servo motion controller with indepedent five-axis position and/or velocity control of the hydraulic boom, electromechanical ruddevators, and hoist, including regen control and brake drive. The embedded software contains a real-time OS with motion control libraries that is certifiable to DO-178B Level B. Our actuation control and motor drive capability is also suitable for hose-and-drogue applications.

Ground Vehicle Controls
Unmanned Ground Vehicle Control
Electronic Systems produces the Drive-By-Wire subsystem that provides data management, power control, video switching for on-board driving & surveillance cameras and remote control system. We also manufacture the Special-To-Role subsystem that provides processing and maintains drive control by continuously analyzing sensor data and performing necessary adjustments for the on-board hydraulic systems and valve drives that manage the armored combat engineer vehicle’s heavy-duty equipment, including dozer blade shovel, side scoop/excavator arm and jack hammer. These subsystems enable the earth-moving combat tractor to perform a host of support tasks such as digging trenches, route opening, mine removal, preparing barriers, ostable clearance and even remote control operation of the ground vehicle.

Ammunition Handling
Ammunition Handling
Electronic Systems' autoloader is the first U.S. ammo handling system to be used in combat. The family of autoloader systems support both electric and hydraulic drive, round recognition and ammunition accounting at the battery level. Our products accept RS-170 video or camera inputs and provide graphics overlay, multiple character sets, full motion video and multiple color outputs to the LCD/LVDS displays with or without touchscreens. Additional capability include aiming and turret stabilization of small (.50 caliber or 25mm OCSW), medium (30 and 40mm) and large (105 and 120mm) caliber turrets as well as in 155mm howitzers.

Flight Control
Flight Control
Electronic Systems flight control avionics systems provide fully autonomous, auto-pilot flight control capability in unmanned aerial vehicles and is responsible for flight control management and actuator control. Our products incorporate highly integrated I/O capability that interfaces with UAV’s flight critical sub-systems (temperature & pressure sensors, engine, fuel system, altimeter, power, bay doors, air speed sensors and ice detector) and closes control loop with a plethora of interfaces -- weapons coordination, radar, communications, GPS navigation, brakes, telemetry, anti-jam module, crash recorder, fuel management systems. Our Flight Control high performance processing elements execute elaborate flight control law algorithms and provide controls for redundant architecture implementation.
Rate Sensor Assembly
Rate Sensor Assembly
Electronic Systems produces a cutting-edge rate sensor assembly that is based on a technologically advanced single-axis fiber-optic gyro sensor. The rate sensor assembly provides next generation gun and turret stabilization with dynamic pointing and precision measurement capabilities at a fraction of the mechanical gyro life-cycle cost. Because it is based on optical fibers and has no moving parts to wear out or fail, the fiber-optic gyro sensor lasts far longer than mechanical spin-wheel gyros and delivers significant cost savings over time. The rate sensor assembly is rigorously tested to meet or exceed military requirements and is ruggedly engineered for reliable performance in the harshest environments.
